The Learning Curriculum followed by Atlantis Beach Baptist College is based on the Western Australian Curriculum and covers the following Learning Areas:
At Atlantis Beach Baptist College, Christian Education is also part of the curriculum.
The Secondary College is committed to providing an excellent and positive academic learning environment. The Lower Secondary years are important transitional and formative years. The Lower Secondary Curriculum provides students with a strong foundation and maximises student aspirations and academic choice as they progress through the Secondary School. Some classes, including English and Mathematics, may be streamed according to ability to enhance student learning. Our students are encouraged to set realistic goals and to aspire to personal excellence in their studies.
When students enter the College they are allocated to a House Group. The student and siblings remain in that House during their time at the College. Each student is also placed in a Christian Life Skills group within their House. Christian Life Skills is the College Christian Education program which is offered one period per week. As students remain in the same Christian Life Skills group throughout their schooling, they come to know their Christian Life Skills teacher well, along with the other students from their Christian Life Skills group, which ensures a high standard of pastoral care at the College.
Diversity within the student population is catered for with the provision of differentiated teaching and learning. Choices will be provided to allow students to select projects within their strengths and interest areas.
Students drive their own learning through inquiry, as well as working collaboratively to research and create projects that reflect their knowledge. From new, viable technology skills, to becoming proficient communicators and advanced problem solvers, students benefit from this approach to instruction. PBL is empowered by technology.
Atlantis Beach Baptist College offers PBL opportunities from Middle Primary to Lower Secondary. In Secondary, elective subjects in Technologies and The Arts, such as Design and Technology, Food and Nutrition, Visual Art, Media, Drama and Information Technology are learned in the context of PBL.
Atlantis Style (The Arts):
Although Drama, Media Arts, Music and Visual Arts are distinct subjects in the Arts, teachers will create opportunities, in a Project Based Learning (PBL) environment, for students to study and make artworks that feature a fusion of traditional art forms and practices to develop hybrid and/or cross-arts projects. This learning involves the exploration of traditional and contemporary arts practices, including those from different cultures that acknowledge community and cultural protocols. Such works might:

Digital Technology
Atlantis Tech PBL will be taught when possible in the context of Environmental Studies with a sustainability focus.
The College offers a range of co-curricular activities that enable students to develop interests and skills that will enrich their lives. After school activities will be available to secondary students. These will vary from term to term but may include sports, drama, music, art and student Christian groups. College life will be enriched by special events such as College Drama Productions, inter-house events and concerts. Students will have opportunities to participate in camps and excursions with the possibility of interstate trips and overseas tours. In the first few weeks of Secondary School, Form Teachers will provide extra support and guidance to new students. Student academic, sporting and community achievements will be acknowledged at College Assemblies.
After school tutoring is available to all secondary students once a week free of charge.
The College encourages and recognises achievement and personal effort across a wide range of activities. Awards, medals and certificates celebrating excellence, high achievement and endeavour will be presented at College assemblies and at the annual Presentation Evenings. Gold commendation slips provide encouragement and positive feedback as well as commendation letters sent to parents. Students with good behaviour records will receive various treats and outings. Student successes will be celebrated by the entire school community in the College Newsletters.
