Permission Year 10 Careers Expo 25 July

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to announce that our Year 10 students will have the opportunity to attend the Skills West Careers and Employment Expo at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday, 25 July 2024. This event provides a valuable platform for students to explore various career paths and educational opportunities.

For the day of the expo, we ask that students come prepared with a light backpack containing their hats, lunch, and water bottles. It is important that all students wear their sport uniform for comfort and identification purposes.

Please ensure that your child arrives at school by 08:30 AM as usual to attend FORM and roll call. We will depart for the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre by bus at approximately 08:45 AM. We plan to return to school by 3:00 PM that same afternoon.

For safety and communication, students are permitted to carry their mobile phones with them during the excursion. Rest assured, they will be under the careful supervision of Mrs. Venter and Mr. Langford throughout the day.

Additionally, please keep an eye out for the permission slip that will be available on the Schoolzine app. It is essential that this permission slip be completed and submitted by the deadline of 22 July 2024, to ensure your child's participation in the expo.

We believe that this expo will inspire our students and broaden their understanding of potential career and educational pathways. Thank you for your continued support in enriching our students' learning experiences.

Please see below link for the permission slip:

Dear Secondary School Parents

At the College we encourage our staff to pursue higher education and research in order to benefit our community. It provides a positive example to students of what can be achieved academically and the knowledge attained directly helps to improve student outcomes. As a part of her study at Sheridan Institute, Mrs Oosthuisen (Yr 6) is currently researching a topic related to reading. If you would like your child to participate in the study pleased find attached further information and a permission slip to return.

If possible, your child's participation would be appreciated.

Thanks for your consideration

This simple act of kindness creates lifelong memories like no other.

Parent Opportunities

Dear Parents

Research shows that educational outcomes are improved for children when schools and parents proactively and constructively work together. At Atlantis Beach Baptist College, we invite you to consider a range of opportunities for involvement, either as part of an organising committee or as a participant.

The Fathering Project

The Fathering Project is an opportunity for Primary School fathers and father figures to spend time with their own children and other dads in a supportive and relaxed environment.  It typically consists of one fun event/activity per term with some good encouragement thrown in. We are looking for any fathers and father figures who might be interested in joining the planning committee.

Mum Focus

Across the year we hope to run a series of events for mums. These social events are designed to encourage connectivity with other mums and inspiration for the parenting journey. We are looking for any mums who might be interested in joining the planning committee.

Nature Focus

The College campus extends both to the north and east of the current fence lines and incorporates a lovely area of bushland. Over the coming year we would like to utilise this space for educational purposes, supporting a range of topics such as environmental and indigenous studies. To help facilitate this, we need to establish some pathways and learning areas that help students engage with the natural environment sustainably and safely. We are looking for any parents who may be interested in helping with the practical work of establishing the learning spaces. This includes rubbish removal, weeding and general works. We are also looking for parents who may be able to help with the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle as the money raised will contribute to the installation of a gate and pathways into this area.

Fete/Open Day

Later in the year we hope to run a Fete/Open Day. The purpose of the day is to highlight all the great things happening at the College and build our community. We’d love to hear from you if interested in either setting up your own stall or assisting as a part of the organising committee.

How to Get Involved?

To let us know your willingness to help organise and contribute any of the opportunities noted please complete this 1-minute survey – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NCPSR3Q

If you’d like to be involved in any of the events/activities associated with these groups look out for the invitations and promotional information.
